Nancy Whittaker (Ward)

Blake Richard Van Leeuwen, age 46, passed away at home on March 26, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Blake was born on Oct. 22, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George and Shirley Rich Van Leeuwen.

He is survived by his mother, sister Lisa, brothers Randy (Lynn), Craig (Liz), Brad (Veronica), eight caring nephews and nieces, grandmother Ada Rich, and many devoted friends. Preceded in death by his father.

Blake served an honorable mission for the LDS church in Sacramento, California. He graduated from LDS Business College. He worked many years for ZCMI, and for the past 24 years with his father and brother in the family business, Trade Engraving Company.

Blake's kindness touched all who he associated with. He loved his many friends and enjoyed time spent with them. He greatly enjoyed the years he spent ushering at University of Utah basketball and football games. His last outing in this life was attending a NCAA tournament game with his brothers. Blake is very grateful to all his compassionate caregivers.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the East Mill Creek 9th Ward, 3750 South Hillside Lane. Friends may call Sunday evening, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, UT, and at the church on Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
